After defeating Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik on Tuesday, Nagal became the first Indian man to win a match at the Australian Open in 11 years, pocketing $118,000 ($180,000 Australian dollars) in the process. “There was a time where we had a lot of singles players playing in the slams,” he said. The 27-year-old Zhang has also reached the second round of this year’s Australian Open, and a deep run in Melbourne could see him break into the top 50 for the first time in his career.

Aug 10 (Reuters) - Nick Kyrgios has withdrawn from the U.S. Open, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) said on Thursday as the Australian continues to recover from ankle and wrist injuries that have limited him to one tournament this season. The 28-year-old had surgery on his left knee earlier in the year and was beaten in his comeback match following a five-month layoff when he fell to China's Wu Yibing in the Stuttgart Open first round in June. Kyrgios missed the French Open due to a foot injury suffered during the theft of his car and pulled out of Wimbledon with wrist issues. Germany Jan-Lennard Struff has also withdrawn from the U.S. Open, the USTA said. Due to the withdrawals Argentine's Facundo Diaz Acosta and Diego Schwartzman move into the main draw.

LONDON, July 2 (Reuters) - Last year's Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios has pulled out of the tournament with a wrist injury, the Australian said on Sunday before the start of the grasscourt grand slam on Monday. "I'm really sad to say that I have to withdraw from Wimbledon this year," the 28-year-old wrote on Instagram. "I tried my hardest to be ready after my surgery and to be able to step on the Wimbledon courts again. "During my comeback, I experienced some pain in my wrist during the week of Mallorca. As a precaution I had it scanned and it came back showing a torn ligament in my wrist.

The 28-year-old underwent surgery on a left knee injury earlier in the year and was beaten in his comeback match after a five-month layoff when he fell to China's Wu Yibing in the Stuttgart Open first round last week. I won't be able to compete at Halle this year," Kyrgios said in a video released by the organisers of the tournament. So hopefully next year I'll be healthy enough to play (at Halle). The world number 31 will be replaced in the Halle draw by lucky loser Aslan Karatsev, organisers added. He missed the French Open due to a foot injury he sustained during the theft of his car last month.

Feb 13 (Reuters) - Wu Yibing became the first man from China to win an ATP title on Sunday as he held off home hero John Isner 6-7(4) 7-6(3) 7-6(12) in a thrilling final to claim the Dallas Open. Before this week, no Chinese man had ever reached a tour-level final in the professional era or defeated a top 10 opponent. Wu, from the eastern city of Hangzhou, has done both, having upset American world number eight Taylor Fritz in the semi-finals in Dallas. Isner hammered 44 aces and held match point as Wu served to stay in the second set at 6-5. On Monday Wu became the second Chinese man to crack the world top 100 and is now projected to rise to 58.
